Very first question: what’s going on in Ran-D’s world nowadays?

I’m a pretty happy person The festival season has just started, and it’s packed with a lot of massive gigs. This means I’m really busy in the studio, working long days creating new music for fresh new sets this summer. Besides my solo career there’s also my collaboration project Gunz For Hire with my good friend ThijsPloegmakers (DJ Adaro). It’s a real challenge to keep both my acts fresh. It takes a lot of time and dedication, but it’s so much fun to do!Who can say they actually turned their hobby into a job? I’m a lucky guy.

The last couple of months have been stunning for you with both projects Ran-D and Gunz For Hire. You played major gigs with highlights such as Qlimax and Decibel Outoor. How does it feel?

It’s a big rush! I feel blessed to experience all of these great things. I’ve been working for years to get to the point where I am right now. Developing myself as a producer and as a DJ. I started off as a visitor at events likeQlimax and Defqon.1 Festival, and it was always my dream to perform there one day. This year I played at so many great events, with thousands of enthusiastic people. It truly is a dream come true.

With Gunz For Hire things have gone really fast, since our debut at Decibel we’ve played at all these massive events like Qlimax and Thrillogy. The fourth gig we did was Qlimax, playing in a packed GelreDome with over 30.000 party people after such a short time is such a big rush. And just recently we won a Hard Dance Award for ‘best new face’, thanks to all of our dedicated fans. It’s way more than we could have wished for!

As a musician, how do you express yourself through music? How much does your music make sense to you and what's the impact on your life overall?

Music to me is as important as food and oxygen. I couldn’t live without music; it’s what drives me. It helped me through rough times, and made the good times even better. For me music is strongly related to emotion and mood, it’s a really good outlet. For example the track Rebirth, a track that I made together with B-Front, is a track that has connection with our own experiences. It’s a track about feeling Reborn after a hard period in life. Something that probably everyone experiences in his or her life. Just recently I remixed my old track Living for the moment. It’s a track I wrote for about the good times I had with friends back in the days. I think when you put real feelings into music, people can always relate to it.

But not all the music I produce has a deeper meaning. Sometimes I just want to go wild in the studio and make a cool track. But still then, it’s always about creating an emotion. When I make a new track, I have a certain feeling with it. And it’s always an exciting moment to play it at an event for the first time, and see if the crowd reacts to the track in the same and feel the track. That emotion that music creates in that moment you play it for the people, is what it’s all about. Music is emotion.

Working on a album seems to be a step that every artist wants to achieve. What about you?

Making an album is a real challenge, and I’m sure I will make one in the future, but at the moment it’s not my priority. I feel the choice to make an album should come natural; I don’t want to plan it. I think an album has to be a statement and a reflection of everything you are as a music producer. I think I’ll feel it when the time is right for me to make an album. Making an album is a time consuming project, and at the moment I’m just to busy with a combination of a solo career and the Gunz For Hire live act.

I do think an album is a good way to create exposure, but on the downside I think the exposure it creates is only for a short amount of time. Things are going increasingly faster, and it seems to me people quickly lose their interest in things, because of the large amounts of music being released every day. At the end of the day, they will only remember a few special tracks. Creating these tracks, is my main goal right now.

Do you have any habits/’ritual’ when you’re in studio, gearing up for a gig or/and on stage?

I have the bad habit to finish stuff just in time for an event, even if it’s almost impossible to get it done. There is no one telling me I have to finish a new track for an event, but it just feels so good to have something fresh in my set. So I’m usually busy in the studio just before a performance.

Another habit is drinking a Bacardi and coke just before a gig. Gets me in the right mood!:

Internet has become such a huge promotional tool for all the artists out there. Especially with social networks and stuff. What is this involving in your way of promoting you/your brand name? Could you name actions you're now used to undertaking through the web? How much do they matter? Why?

The digital revolution has made the world smaller, and made music more accessible. Media like YouTube, Soundcloud, Facebook and Twitter made it easier for us to promote our music and our brand worldwide. I think it’s one of the most important developments over the last years. It’s probably one of the most important reasons the Hardstyle scene is growing worldwide. Last year 9 hardstyle artist reached the top 100 of the DJ MAG. A result of dedicated fans, wholike and support their music and follow them online. This shows the importance of social media for artists these days.

Recently we’ve been working on the new look and feel of Ran-D online. There’s a new logo and webdesign. The new website is coming soon, but all the media already have the new look. I think it’s important to promote your brand. It’s not only making music, but also creating a connection with your fans. Nowadays I aim to spend half an hour to an hour a day just for my media, and respond to messages from fans to let them know what I’m working on at the moment and where I will be performing. Sometimes don’t always have the time to update my media, sometimes I’m just to focused in the studio, but I always try to post a few messages every day. It’s really cool to get all these supporting messages from fans on media like Facebook and Twitter. I really appreciate it, and it’s a good motivation in the studio.

Another important medium is online video. Media like YouTube and Twitvid make it possible to actually show your fans what your doing. Online video clips are the trend right now, and a really cool way to promote your new track.

Social media have seen a bunch of talented newcomers emerging through YouTube these days. According to you, what are the most promising newcomers on the scene at the moment? Why?

I think one of the most promising newcomers is Code Black. He’s not an actual newcomer, being a former member of Bioweapon, but anyway the name Code Black itself is fairly new. I really like the tracks this guy makes. In the more raw side of Hardstyle, I really like the stuff Frequencerz are making, definitely a name to look out for. Arkaine and The Anarchist are also a few new names who are producing good new stuff on Scantraxx.

Q-dance hit Chile at Mystery Land last year and and they just announced a new milestone with their own stage at EDC in Las Vegas this year. Without any doubt, hardstyle is expanding like never before. Since you've been part of the scene for a couple of years, what does this electronic revolution inspire you?

I feel it’s gonna bring a lot of great opportunities for amazing gigs all over the world. Finally the world is getting to know Hardstyle and recognizing it more and more. I think it’s a really cool development.

Last year I played in a lot of different countries in Europe and I got the chance to play my music at Defqon.1 Festival Australia. It’s amazing to see people on the other side of the world actually know my music and go wild! I think it shows Hardstyle creates an emotion and a feeling that we all share, nomather where you come from. And that to me is truly inspiring. I hope to be visiting a lot of different countries and show Hardstyle to the world.

Anything else to add, regarding your current activities?

Let’s see. I’m hoping for a few interesting collabs this year, cause it’s always fun to team up with colleagues you admire. I would love to make a collab with Headhunterz and Noiscontrollers. Hopefully in the near future. Besides that I will be making a lot of new material for our Gunz For Hire live act together with my man Adaro, so keep an eye out for that. Last but not least I would like to say, follow me guys, and keep up to date with my music and with what I’m doing!

Jakby ktoś mógł ważniejsze rzeczy przetłumaczyć i wkleić byłbym wdzięczny bo nie chce mi się wszystkiego tłumaczyć a google translator wiadomo jak tłumaczy
