Samo istnienie tego wywiadu zauważyłem na facebooku Noisecontrollers. Został przeprowadzony gdzieś w połowie lutego dla słowackiego magazynu, można z niego wiele ciekawego wyczytać. Nie znalazłem go tutaj więc zamieszczam.

> Hello guys, first of all thanks for agreeing with doing an interview with us.
> 1. So, let’s start with probably the hottest topic around you right
> now. Your highly anticipated album is about to be released, can you
> tell our readers something more about it ? Where did your obsession
> with science themed tracks came from ?

Our upcoming album is something we are very proud of. The theme is indeed science and physics. We both have our interests in this field and it was quit obvious we let ourselves be inspired by this theme. Thats what watching too much discovery channel can do with you. The album is released on march 2nd. The most interesting thing about this album is that it's very diverse. You find all kinds of hardstyle on this album and besides also dubstep and hardcore. Thats what Noisecontrollers is about. Not commiting to only 1 style or genre.

> 2. Last twelve months have been pretty rough. You started a brand new
> label, you made an anthem for the biggest hardstyle outdoor festival
> out there and you just hosted a very own concert show in Heineken
> music hall and to top it, you scored a nice place in dj mag top100.
> You became quite a stars, how are you putting up with all that ?

We try not to think too much in succes or popularity. Afterall we are producers/djs because we love music. We don't need big parties or high popularty-polls results. On the other hand last years were so great with so many highlights we cannot deny we enjoy every moment of it. For us all those succeses are the result of working hard but even more the result of the fans who want to hear us.

> 3. Why did you start your own label ? You left Fusion records, which
> is one of the most appreciated hardstyle labels out there.

We started our own label because we wanted to focus only on our own concept Noisecontrollers. Fusion records is the most important label in the history of hardstyle together with Scantraxx. They are like the motown of hardstyle. When we joined them there were only a few artists there. Nowadays they focus on much more artists and the label is much wider in sound and artists who all need focus. The record-industry changed you know. With our own label we can build something wich is only about Noisecontrollers. Since we grew so big that is what we need.

> 4. So High already kinda became a new classic. Do you expect a track
> to become a success while making it or is it a nice surprise for you
> sometimes ?

So high is kinda a funny story. I (bas) made the melody when i was just a teenager. I was always convinced the melody was gold but I never managed to put it into a hardstyle version. Than working on the album I gave it 1 more try and it worked out great! Its already a big hit and our friend Headhunterz proclaimed it to be the best track of the year. We never expect a track to become a big hit. Its just something we dont think off. But sometimes it happens. When Arjan heard the melody of So High he was convinced it would work out really great :-)

> 5. Tell us a bit how does a process of making a Noisecontrollers track
> looks like. What comes first, bassline, melody ? Is one of you an
> expert for kicks and the other one expert for melodies ?

There is no particular way to start a track. Most times it begins with an idea, vocal or a nice sound and you start to build around it. What is less known is that I (Bas Oskam) produce all the tracks. Thats why we dont work together on a track as a rule. I have my own studio. Only with big project like anthems we do. Arjan does the live-acts and ofcourse we dj together.

> 6. What are your future plans ? Are you already gaining a new ideas
> for new tracks ? Some interesting collabs coming up or such as ?

We have alot of new plans with our music. Ofcourse we will continue working on our typical hardstyle sound but besides that we will also start making much more kind of genres with Noisecontrollers. In the future you can expect everything of us ;-) We also are the first hardstyle-producers wich will be in a video-game: Take on Noisecontrollers. We will be characters in there and ofcourse our music is integrated. Such an honour!

> 7. We are experiencing quite a newcomers boom in our scene in the past
> months. If you had to bet ten bucks, who would you say is the “next
> big thing” in hardstyle ?

To be honest we dont follow much upcoming dj-s. There is alot of talent out there but Hardstyle has become such a high-end musicgenre that its impossible to come from nowhere and be a "big thing" in a short matter of time. The truth is to become a big-hit you have to work hard for years on your music. Thats why there are not much surprises. Thats kinda sad but just the way it is. Nevertheless we expect alot of new talents coming up and who will make it to the top. We hope all upcoming producers to keep working and never give up. Than they will make it :-) Thats good for everybody, the scene and the hardstylelovers.

> 8. When it comes to mainstream success breakthrough, what is more
> important ? Walking your own path or trying to give people what they
> want to hear ? What would be your advice for the newbie producers ?

Absolutely walking your own path. Its very simple: If many people like it...... it will become mainstream. Its not the otherway around. You can make mainstream but that wont mean many people like it. We never make a track because we think many people will like it. We only release because WE like it.

> 9. In the past, you made some hip hop, hardcore, experimental dubstep
> influenced stuff, even ambient. But you settled down for hardstyle,
> what keeps you making it ? what do you love about it ?

Hardstyle has just so much energy and power. There is nothing like it and thats why we will always make it.

> 10. Since the early 2000’s hardstyle has changed incredibly much. From
> driving basslines to euphoric melodies and so on. What do you think
> about the evolution of hardstyle? Where do you see it in let’s say,
> five years ?

I think it developed great! Because of the pitched kicks you can play chords. Chords give melodies feelings and the more feeling the better. We have no idea what the future will bring but coming year I think vocals will be much more inportant in Hardstyle.

> 11. What kind of music besides hardstyle really gets you going ? If
> you could get one shot to produce a track with ANY music artist, who
> would it be ?
I really would like to work together with a big pop-artist and particulary the producers behind them. If I had to name an artist I would say Skrillex wich ahs a great sound-design.

> 12. What are Noisecontrollers doing if they are not busy in the studio
> or performing ?
All kinds of normal stuff like gaming, hanging with friends etc.

> Thanks a lot for your time, hope to see you performing in Slovakia
> sometimes soon !

We hope too! Thnks for the interview!!
